The Special Schools Project allocates bursaries to learners with disabilities, who are in special schools.
The aim is to help pay part of the school fees for these children. It is only available to the child dependants of SACTWU members.
SACTWU’s November 2013 National Executive Committee (NEC) has resolved to improve this member benefit, with effect from next year. Currently, the average fees is about R3500 per annum, to which our Special Schools Bursary contributes R800 per annum.
An improved Special Schools Bursary of 75% of fees up to a maximum of R2250 per annum is now paid per learner (effective from 1 February 2014). Applications should be in before the end of February annually.
