The 35th Annual SACTWU Spring Queen will be taking place on Saturday 12 November 2011 at the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town. The event will see 47 women, all workers in the clothing, textile and leather sectors across the Western Cape, participating and hoping to be crowned the Sactwu Spring Queen for 2011.

The Spring Queen is one of Cape Town’s biggest events, with the Good Hope Centre filled to capacity with workers celebrating the evening with banners and T-shirts emblazoned with their factory names.

The annual event is the largest fashion show featuring workers as models. It is a fun and important occasion as the focus is on ordinary workers which provide a face to the garments, shoes and fabrics that are sold in retail stores and boutiques across South Africa.

Local Talent such as The Boys and Vibe will entertain the crowd with their performances. Also on the programme this year, SACTWU introduces the SACTWU Got Talent finalists. Four workers from factories will compete for the inaugural SACTWU’s Got Talent title.

The programme starts at 19:00 for 19:30.
