Media Invite: Immediate

Minister of Economic Development, Ebrahim Patel, will tomorrow launch the construction of a R25m clothing  Design Centre.  This design centre will be the first of its kind on the continent, linked to a clothing industrial manufacturing plant which SACTWU has recently taken over when it faced closure, saving over 2000 jobs.

The media is invited to cover the event, which will be held as follows:

DATE:                    Tuesday  15 April 2014

Session 1:            Inspection

TIME:                    08h45 – 09h20:  factory floor inspection by the Minister, at Trade Core Investments Apparal (TCIA), Losack Avenue, Epping Industria 1, Cape Town (this will be an opportunity for the media to conduct interviews with the Minister, directly on the factory floor, and to take footage/photos. It is unusual for a clothing manufacturing operation to allow media access directly to the production floor and  this is therefore a unique and rare media opportunity)

Session 2:            Launch of the Design Centre construction  (800  TCIA  clothing workers and other guests to attend)

TIME:                    09h30 – 11h00
VENUE:                Cadema Building, Losack Avenue, Epping Industria 2, Cape Town (5 min walk from the manufacturing TCIA plant)

Kindly confirm attendance with SACTWU’s Media Project Officer, Nazmia Leite, on cell number 072 198 6061 or email address This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
