PRESS ALERT:  Press Invite

SACTWU Spring Queen 2016 will take place on Saturday 12 November 2016, at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town. This year the event will see 47 women all from the clothing, textile and leather sectors across the Western Cape, strut their stuff on the catwalk in the hope of being crowned the 2016 SACTWU Spring Queen.

The Spring Queen is one of Cape Town's biggest events and this will be our second year at Athlone Stadium and we hope that it will be filled to capacity with workers and employers celebrating the evening with banners and T-shirts emblazoned with their factory names.

This annual event is the largest fashion show featuring workers as models. The experience is packed with fun and of great significance for the industry as it showcases the faces that are responsible for the manufacturing of garments, shoes and fabrics that are sold in retail stores and boutiques across South Africa.

Local acts such as Nur Abrahams, Robin Pieters and Liquid Deep will keep the crowd entertained with their performances. The SACTWUs Own Talent Competition is now in its 6th year and we have 4 talented young women who will compete for the title, as well as three dance acts vying for the top prize. The show is forever changing and this will be the second year that the Junior Spring Queen competition is incorporated into the show. This year we have 10 young girls who are the dependants of our members, we have started this segment of show to educate the young people on the importance of buying local.
